Libby Gillman is, by training, an experienced corporate and commercial lawyer with particular expertise in financial institution incorporation and regulation, banking law and regulation, sophisticated and innovative payment systems, electronic banking products, emerging technology-based financial and other products and services, electronic commerce including Internet law, and legal issues of privacy and security on the Internet.
She has excellent collaborative relationships with the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions and the Canadian Payments Association.
Prior to joining Gillman Professional Corporation, Barristers & Solicitors, Libby was a member of the risk management practice of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at the Visa Canada Association and senior legal counsel at The Bank of Nova Scotia responsible for the domestic retail bank.
Libby Gillman received her BA and LLB degrees from the University of Manitoba and is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.
Libby speaks and writes extensively on matters relating to financial institution regulation, payments, electronic commerce, and privacy issues and co-authors the quarterly Gillman Financial Regulatory Report, a business law and financial law newsletter.
